FAQ
General questions we are often asked via support
VoiceQ Writer is a MacOS application, however, we created VoiceQ Cloud as a windows friendly, and cloud-based equivalent.
VoiceQ Writer (and Pro and Actor) fully integrate with VoiceQ Cloud
VoiceQ Cloud replicates much but not all of the Mac OS functionality, it does provide advanced project management, collaboration, and reporting functionality
Voice Cloud is available in 2 forms Manager and Collaborator, the former can set permissions while the latter receives permissions
Yes, each translator must purchase a license for VoiceQ Writer. The adaption process uses a simple spotting system with a visual timeline. The adaption can be done manually or if you have timecoded scripts they can be imported and VoiceQ will create new events for you to work on.
VoiceQ Writer handles all the pre-record workflows and will import and export your TTAL files.
VoiceQ Pro is a pre-record and record application, it contains the same functions as VoiceQ Writer as well and fully integrates with popular DAWs
Yes, it can be used as a direct connection with Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, Nuendo, or Reaper. We also have event recording in the application however the users cannot edit the takes in the application, they must export either the file or an AAF file with timing data attached. We recoomend recording with a DAW for the best editing and recording experience.
Yes, we price VoiceQ Actor at a low cost, however if you have temporary users you may also allow them to use temporary licenses on their devices. Quality is based on hardware and performance - They will need a microphone kit to use the system correctly.
Yes VoiceQ Pro, VoiceQ Writer and VoiceQ Actor are all MacOS.
VoiceQ Cloud is our web-based, windows friendly version. You may record in the browser version however the editing for the script must be done prior to sending the project to the actor to use as well as that video file will need to be uploaded to our safe and secure online servers.
This is often an issue with MacBook Pros from 2018-2019.
To fix this navigate to 'Apple>System preferences>Security & Privacy>Privacy>Microphone'
Then select 'Microphone' in the selection and find VoiceQ Actor. (See image)
IF the selection is not ticked please do so to allow the mac to record in VoiceQ.
Next steps:
IF the above does not work for you please open VoiceQ and then select the 'Local recording' window
Navigate to 'File format...' button and select 'WAV / 44000 / 16bit / 1' (image below)
IF ABOVE DOES NOT WORK:
If the above refuses to work you may need to create an aggregate recording device.
See here for more details or follow below:
Open 'Applications>Utilities>Audio MIDI Setup'
In the Audio devices section press '+' and add an 'Aggregate device'
Once the device is added simply select the MacBook speakers and microphone (see image for reference)
Finally, select the aggregate audio device in VoiceQ and try to record.
