Update Notes

This update release provides enhanced performance and usability improvements.

IMPORTANT

  1. If users open project files with the latest VoiceQ, the older versions of VoiceQ may not be able to open the updated project files.

  2. MacOS 10.13 users need to 'Save as...' projects if previously built on MacOS 10.12 or lower. VoiceQ will then restart and users can use the updated file.

New Features

1. Conformalizer support (EDL): Support for text files created with Conformalizer:

View our conforming guide here: https://www.voiceq.com/conforming

Notes:

  • This only affects the timing of the existing lines.

  • If the line is missing by the conforming (editing) you can choose what to do for the affected lines.

2. Full text search/Search and replace in Script: Basic search functions added to the script view. Users use (Command+F) to open search function to find specific words and will also have the option to find and replace.

3. Shortcut for skipping to characters lines: Using the shortcut key combination ‘(Control+Option+Up/Down)’ users can scroll lines of a selected character more efficiently when not using a character filter. i.e. Select a line set to 'Character 1'. Using a shortcut key combo the user will skip to the next line of 'Character 1'. This requires no use of the Character filter and will make selecting the next line of a character faster without using Character filter.

4. Drag & Drop Video: Users can drag and drop supported video files from finder straight into the VoiceQ timeline to initiate import.Note: Users will be prompted if frame-rate differs.

5. Drag & Drop Script: Users can drag and drop supported script files from finder straight into the VoiceQ Script view to initiate import.

6. Selected Language Import/Export (Merge): Users can import and export to share language projects with multiple users.

Notes:

  • There must be a main (parent) project and all the child projects must be branched out from it. Every line has its own unique IDs for change tracking.

  • The line with different ID is treated as a different line: even if all other contents are identical with another. The line ID is allocated when a line is created. If you create same line in different child projects, they will be treated as different lines. I recommend to add/remove lines only in one project (the main one may be preferable) and propagate the changes to the children by merging.

  • Project export and merge: The first request is language specific, but it isn’t limited to its languages. Merging process can affect most of the changes including character, media, language, text and line/word timings too. It doesn’t affect the project itself (project name, start time offset, framerate) at the moment. It would if many uses want it.

  • Importing child project: will always change the original when there is conflict, the project manager must advise other staffs who are working in parallel before starting the job.

  • Start time in a child project: If you change the timings the original line in the parent project will be affected by merging.

  • Delete or add lines in a child project: VoiceQ will ask you really want to add or to remove lines in the parent project as well before merging.

7. Avoid overlapping times of character lines: Stops a character(s) lines from overlapping with the next line of the same character(s). You can set adjustment in the import window & Preferences.

Enhancements

  1. Looping - Rewire (Pro Tools Issues): Looping via ReWire has been greatly enhanced from the previous version. For older machines we recommend using Open GL video output as it will increase playback time and reduce input lag from Pro Tools.

  2. EDL: User Interface: User interface for Conformilizer txt files shows changes visually.

  3. EDL: Framerate Prompt: Prompts user of frame rate changes from Conformilizer txt files.

Fixes

  1. DAW Issues - Fixed a bug that could cause out of synch with DAWs under certain studio configurations.

  2. General MacOS 10.13 compatibility testing - Please note we have tested this version up until MacOS 10.13.4. As Apple rolls out further updates we will continue to support with newer versions of VoiceQ.

VOICEQ PRO 3.6

Release Date:          December 2017

Build Number:         VoiceQ 3.6.0

VoiceQ Special: DOWNLOAD

Update Notes

This update release provides enhanced performance and usability improvements.

IMPORTANT

We are aware of an issue with opening VoiceQ on MacOS 10.13 High Sierra and are currently working with PACE as there is a compatibility issue with iLok manager.

In the interim please follow the steps below:

  1. Run iLok License Manager

  2. Login with the iLok account that has the license(s).

  3. Drag the license(s) to a proper place (Local Machine (writer only) or iLok USB key)

  4. Then VoiceQ will start without issue.

Auto-Updates

The older versions of VoiceQ prior to 3.6.0+ cannot receive auto updates any longer because our server address has been updated.

Users will need to download 3.6.0+ to receive auto updates.

New Features

Build Number:         VoiceQ 3.5.0

VoiceQ Special: DOWNLOAD

Update Notes

This update release provides enhanced performance and usability improvements.

IMPORTANT

AUTO-UPDATE CHANGES

The older versions of VoiceQ prior to 3.5 cannot receive auto updates any longer because our server address has been updated.

Users will need to download 3.5 to receive auto updates.

New Features

  3. Looping - VoiceQ can loop the selected lines. Select this right-click on Play icon.

    • Note for Looping (DAW) - If VoiceQ runs as slave of DAW, VoiceQ's loop setting will be ignored. To loop with Pro Tools, MIDI song position should be used for synchronisation. The synchronisation using MIDI song position may not be as good as that using MTC but Pro Tools doesn't send correct MTC while looping. If possible, please use ReWire as communication protocol for looping.

  4. Looping Pre-Roll - Preroll time for looping can be set in the Preferences Window->Global->Timeline.

  5. Single Character Mode - Easy way to set up character filter on one character to concentrate one character in the work-process.
